The Importance of Dental Health 

Dental and oral disease is common in cats.  Problems with the mouth and teeth are sometimes signs of health conditions affecting the whole body, and pain or infection in your cat's mouth can harm his or her overall wellbeing. An important part of our complete health assessment for your cat includes an oral examination. At least once a year as a part of the comprehensive physical exam, we will perform a visual dental and oral inspection of your cat and then make treatment recommendations as needed.

By bringing your cat in for dental health screening, you are helping to relieve possible pain associated with the mouth and teeth that might affect your cat's appetite and comfort.  If your cat's teeth have tartar buildup, a thorough dental cleaning can help to prevent tooth loss and salvage teeth that might otherwise be lost to periodontal disease.  Most of all, addressing your cat's oral condition is an important part of his or her total health care.
